First Annual Timp Challenge

So DRB challenged us to hike to the top of Timp this year and gave us a little incentive. We did several shake down hikes to help us prepare and I even hiked carrying Mara in a backpack to help get me in shape (and because she walks painfully slow and tires easily). Anyway, if you've read my summer update post, you already know that Nate and I didn't make it to the top. BUT, we made it ~6 miles up and got to see the sun rise on the way down... Here are the pics.

So this is when we first started. The flash makes it looks like you could see, but really, you could only see where your headlight was. It was so dark, you really just had to follow the trail and you could see like 5 ft.
This was supposed to be a picture of the ice field we had to cross. Kinda scary. But, you can't see it!
The sun is starting to wake up...
And here it is. Pictures just don't do a good sunrise justice.
 Look! We're alive! (and smiling)
So if you look at the ice patch below the makeshift arrow, that's where we were. A little higher and around the corner actually, but ya know.
                                                       \/
 More ice.
 More sunrise
More water that inevitably ran over the trail so we had to walk through it... and Scout Falls.
Nate finally got to see a moose!!!

Next year's Timp Challenge is already planned. Nate is staying home with the kids this time... And I'll see you at the top!!! Boo-yah!
